Photowalking Utah Studio Lighting

Stacy and I had so much fun at Photowalking Utah! It was our first time attending one and we loved it! I especially loved using Rich Legg's camera, but this photo below was with my camera after I gave his back. We took Tracy with us, thinking that if we needed to know anything technical about lighting, he was the guy to soak it in. We also took my nephew Jesse's girlfriend Meagan. I let her borrow my camera while I borrowed Rich's. We also took pictures of Meagan before the Photowalk began.

Check out My Photoblog for more pictures from the day. Also check out Stacy's blog. She has been taking some way cool photos lately! Without me :(

My Dream Camera

This is my dream camera. The Canon 5D Mark II. Isn't it great? I LOVE it!!!!!!!!!! (Hint Hint....Honey - Happy Anniversary to me!)

I got to use it when Stacy and I went to the Photowalking Utah event on Saturday, thanks to this man, Rich Legg:
He offered his camera to anyone who wanted to use it and I sent Tracy over to him very quickly to grab it for me, while I waited in line to take someone's photo. Tracy took this picture of Rich and me as I was giving the camera back.... boo hoo. :(
It was fun while it lasted! Check out Rich's website at http://www.leggnet.com/

My Cousin Brad

I discovered yesterday that my cousin has a blog. I love it! Brad is a motivational speaker, a magician and just a really neat guy! His blog is fun because you can listen to his entry or you can read it. He has some really good messages.

The link to his blog is on the right under family blogs. It's also here:
http://bradbartonspeaks.wordpress.com/

I also went to his website, bradbartonspeaks.com and found this fun link:
http://www.ogden.cc/brad/

It shows Brad in action.

Check out the links if you need a little pick me up!

P.S. He's also the one who introduced Tracy and me.

It's Sunny!

Yea!!! The sun is out and shining today! Doesn't it feel wonderful? Yesterday it was snowing, snowing, snowing. Everytime I looked out the window, it was snowing. Luckily I was surrounded by new life poking its head out of the soil. I felt like I was in the Secret Garden.

I am so grateful for these little seedlings showing me the promise of spring around the corner.

Photographing People Part 2

Stacy and I are loving our InStudio classes. We have so much fun and learn so much! We had our second class yesterday.

Here is Kenneth demonstrating a lighting technique with Stacy as his model.
Demonstrating another technique using his wife MaryLyn.

We went back outside for The Blue Hour. What fun! This is where we get to practice! It was getting quite cold and the wind was blowing. We felt sorry for our poor model, but she did a great job. We stayed out for about half an hour. Check out my photoblog to see more photos from this shoot and watch as the sky gets darker. Amazing colors!

Community Class

Our community photography class had the opportunity to follow models around the school and take some pictures. I wish we had better lighting than just a flash, but oh well, we had fun! Check out my photoblog for more pictures.

Today I Cried

Today was my last day subbing my Kindergarten class. I began subbing in November, right before Thanksgiving for a teacher who was on maternity leave. She is coming back on Monday. I have to admit, I cried telling the kids good-bye. I've had my moments all week, knowing that my time with them was coming to an end. On Wednesday some of the kids made me paper hearts, one copied his hand and cut it out, and one little girl brought me the bear shown above, that says "Miss You," the next day. I passed out Valentine tootsie pops today with "I love you" written on the wrapper. I told them that I loved them and that I would miss them, as I choked back the tears. They all gave me hugs good-bye. I hope they have enjoyed their time with me as much as I have enjoyed my time with them.
