Beach Ball

Brockton came over for a little while today. The first time in a LONG time! How I've missed him! I bought him some Cars socks at Target yesterday and remembering them, told Brockton that I had bought him something. As I went to get the socks, he trailed behind me and said, "Thanks Grandma, thanks for buying me something." He said thanks about 5 times. What a sweetie!

We played Zingo and when we started to play he said something like, "I'm gonna beat you." I thought really? He's changed that much since I last tended him? But by the end of the game, I realized he was the same Brocky. He won, but wouldn't quit until I won too.

He told me Easton was going to the doctor - I can't remember his exact words, but something along the lines that Easton was going to get his umbilical cord removed and now he would have "a beach ball, just like me!" He thinks his belly is like a beach ball and his belly button looks like the air valve.

Snowmen Cupcakes

NOTE: I have updated my blog. It includes entries that I started on awhile ago and never published, so you may want to scroll down to see some more new entries. Especially the one about Easton's arrival. But read this cute little entry first.

I saw the cutest little cupcakes on a magazine cover and decided they had to be our next cupcake project. Well, it took a little while to get most of the ingredients, but we were finally ready to make them in the middle of January when Brockton came to play. They looked easier than they actually were. I decided that I could NOT put on the earmuffs, so I called Tracy and told him that was HIS job. I frosted the cupcakes and Brockton decorated the face.

The finished product.

What they were supposed to look like.

Grandpa. We're so glad he was willing to help, but even he had a hard time with those blasted ear muffs.

Candy Cane Seeds

I read about a cute idea of planting Candy Cane seeds, so the next time I went to Cafe Rio, I grabbed a couple extra for Brockton to plant.

Cody helped Brockton plant them.

Then they had a snowball fight.

And made a snowman.

Checking on the seeds, the next time he came. They had grown into little tiny candy canes.

Unfortunately the next time he came, they had disappeared. Either they melted or someone or something had eaten them.

Luckily big ones grew in time for Christmas morning.

So much fun to grow your own candy canes! Especially when you really love to garden.

Can you tell Brockton LOVES the movie Cars?

Blowing out his candles. The lights were turned off, but
my flash is powerful.

Birthday Fun

I have had a lot of fun the last couple of days. It helped me get out of my birthday funk. Marinda took me to lunch at Subway yesterday, then Cody, Stephanie, Brockton, Stacy and Scott took me to dinner at Texas Roadhouse. It was so yummy and we had a great time. It was someone's birthday and the servers did some sort of thing to celebrate it. The kids asked if I would be embarrassed if they did that to me, I told them if I got free dessert out of it, I wouldn't mind. Well, when they brought out a saddle for me to sit on, I changed my mind, but by then it was too late. Then they asked me how old I was. We told them 28. Brockton kept peeking over the booth to the hostesses behind us. Then he'd duck back down just giggling. Cody told him to say, "What's going on ladies?" He said no and giggled some more as he popped up to peek at them again. After awhile, he did say it, over and over and over again. He's so silly!

My sister Patty made me a Lemon Meringue pie to eat with lunch today at work. She's always so sweet like that, making some kind of treat for me when I have to work on my birthday. We spent most of the day doing up poinsettias (getting them ready to be shipped - putting on pot covers and sleeves and putting them in flats.)

Stacy invited me out to see the movie Tangled tonight. Tracy and Jace came along. It was a fun movie! I was a little leery when they started singing every 5 minutes, but it turned out to be really good. I even shed a tear or two and laughed a lot. Maximus the horse reminds me of Hallie.

Then back home for ice cream cake!

You Scared my Ba-ba

The other night Brockton asked for a ba-ba which is really a sippy-cup. If he wants a drink of water, he'll ask for a drink or get it himself, but the sippy is something he asks for when he wants apple juice or chocolate milk, especially when he's starting to get tired.

Anyway, he asked for a ba-ba, we got him apple juice, he drank a little bit then carried it around as he played with the recliner, which grandpa was in. He would put the footstool up and then down. He was trying to move the handle with one hand (since his ba-ba was in the other) when grandpa leaned over and shouted, "Rah..." Brocky dropped the sippy cup and said, "Whoa, you scared my ba-ba." So funny!

It's Birthday Week!

How did that happen? I am not at all ready for my birthday this year. I don't know if it's because I'm one year closer to the big 5-0 or what, but I'm definitely not excited about my birthday. Maybe it's my cold which sucks the energy out of me. Maybe it's the fact that my "sweetheart" didn't love me enough to give me even a small present last year (for my birthday or for Christmas.) Maybe it's the cold - why wasn't I born in the late spring or early summer? I don't know what it is.

I will try to put on a happy face, I will try to get myself in the mood. I will be happy this year it is not the big 5-0!

A Day with Brockton

Brockton came to visit while his parents went to a movie. He enjoyed his time by watering all the plants in the front yard, plus even tried watering the plants (weeds) in the window well. He tried to fix the tree his dad broke the other day. Next we went out to the garden and did a little watering out there. Then he decided he wanted to pick some raspberries. I would pick a handful and he would stuff them all into his mouth declaring that he loved raspberries. We went to see the baby horse and its mommy. The neighbors were driving their truck to the back, so we got out of the way and went to see the cows instead. There were only 2, too far away to really see. He suggested we go see the goats, but that would take a long walk, or a drive in the car. We went back to the garden and picked some corn, then went in the house to cook it. He ate all the corn off his cob. He loved it. I had him sustain the General Authorities when conference started. When I sat down in a chair in the family room, he came up to me and asked me if we could go to church. He played with play dough and his cars. Before we knew it, his parents came to take him home, with promises to bring him back that night while they worked.

When Brockton came back, we headed to Ladies Night Out at Deseret Book. First, we stopped to pick up Stacy. On the way, Stacy was telling me about how naughty her kittens had been and how she wanted to shoot them. Brockton perked up and asked her what she wanted to do to her kittens. Stacy said, "Oh, oh," and then said she wanted to love them.

We came to a sort of traffic jam and Brockton told us the road was broken and we needed to go on a different road. I told him we were stuck. Stacy thought he must have seen a crack in the asphalt, I told her I thought he must think they were doing road construction and that is why the traffic was stopped. When the traffic started moving more freely, he said the road wasn't broken anymore.

Marinda met us at Deseret Book. She took Brockton for rides in his stroller. Then she found a corner to park and sit. She found Brockton a Cars book with holograms. He liked it for a little while. I went to talk to Josi Kilpack and when I came back, Marinda told me to ask Brockton which hand he was hiding a small bouncy ball in. He held out the hand with the ball and told me to guess. The other hand was still at his side. I chose it. He told me to pick the hand he was holding out. When it was my turn to hide the ball, if he chose the wrong hand he would immediately choose the right hand and raise his arms in triumph.

He's too cute and we all had a great time with him.

Marathon

Tracy ran the Top of Utah Marathon September 18th and won the Master's Division, setting a new record! For those of you who don't know (like me) that means those who are ages 40+. Also for those who may not know, Tracy won the St. George Marathon overall twice!!! He was also in the Olympic Trials. Unfortunately that was before I met him. He hasn't run much since we have been married, just started again this spring, so it's pretty impressive that he not only came in first in the Masters but set a new record.

Finished the race in 2:42:18 beating the previous record by 2 minutes.

He was pretty worn out at the finish. He asked me to go get his jacket. When I came back he had disappeared. I was afraid he had a heart attack and was in one of the ambulences sitting by the finish line. I found him getting a massage.
